Celebrating Air Conditioning’s Minnesota History

Today Marks the 112th Anniversary of the Modern Air Conditioner

Despite our cold winters and the unseasonably cool weather we just experienced during the MLB All-Star Game hosted at Target Field, home to the Minnesota Twins, Minnesotans are no stranger to hot and humid temperatures.

In fact, Willis Carrier, inventor of the first modern mechanical air conditioner and father of air conditioning installed the first residential application of air conditioning in the Charles Gates mansion in Minneapolis. How’s that for irony?

On July 17, 1902, Willis Carrier designed the first modern air-conditioning system that changed the way we work, live and play. Willis Carrier’s invention, solved the problem of how to control the indoor environment, and helped promote health, comfort and global productivity. Since the invention, Carrier has continued to innovate in the heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration industries, enabling global comfort and efficiency.

Today, bringing comfort to your Minnesota home remains one of Carrier and Stay Comfy, Minnesota’s top priorities. As the weather warms up again, if you’re not staying as cool as you’d like, let us help you locate a local Minnesota air conditioning expert.
